Having a read through some of the press reference the new TG team and you would think the world has come to an end - trolls just being trolls I guess

I am personally looking forwards to the new show :t-up:

What you chaps reckon?

I was bored of the old one and had stopped watching, so I'm keen to see what a shake up can do.

As I said in the other thread, shame they've kept the Stig, they should have dropped him/her/it. Hopefully SIARPC segment goes too.

I think the Stig sells them loads of merchandise at Xmas though, they were never going to drop him...

I got a bit bored of it before too, keen to see how it pans out with new format.

I still watched it but the format of the old show had got a bit tired and quality was variable at the end. Some segments were amazing and some just rubbish.

I am open minded about the new show.  I will watch it and reserve judgement until then.  My concern is that it is being overhyped and the presenters may try too hard.

The problem they have is that the previous Top Gear was the most successful 'car' show globally ever so it is some act to follow.

I think that brining in so called personalities (EJ, Sabine and the US bloke) could be  a mistake vs just a fresh start with people like CH and allow them to develop it again over time. But let's wait and see

For me top gear was not just the presenters but also some superb production,  especially on the bigger reviews and road trips. The filming was stunning at times and  I hope that they still have that.

Ignoring anything that's preceded it - if someone said there was a new car show coming with those guys I'd have happy. Will definitely be giving it a chance.

Yes, I'll definitely give it a fair shake.  It's a bit like comparing a new girlfriend with an old one, no point in it at all.  Might take 2-3 seasons to really find it's feet, patience may be required.

Call me cynical, but the BBC have replaced three talented people with the full pc line up,

One black guy, one woman, one white guy, one old man, one foreigner, one who appears to have olive skin and finally the Stig, who some say is a disabled transgender suffering from a severe shyness complex due to the actions of Saville.

We will see what this turns out like but every complaint I read about the three stooges being white middle class men seem to have been addressed in this

It depends. If these people have been appointed because editorially they are the best for the direction it needs to go then fine, but I suspect this is not the case. Top Gear was seen by many in the BBC as a white middle class programme for men. It ignored the fact that many people who watched were not in that demographic and were happy with what they viewed.

Time will tell if it is a success for the BBC.

so long as they don't try to copy the old topgear too much then it will be judged on its merit but if they carry on with the cool wall and the same old set etc then its just a gloss over PC job.

im looking forward to chris harris as I like his online stuff and its the kind of bits that I would like to see more of. I didn't like how topgear used to do nothing about normal cars but then again I don't like how 5th gear will always chose 3 cars that loosely fit together but has the obvious one they want to promote in their tests.

Why would it take you 2-3 seasons to find your new girlfriends feet?

I was tired of the old TG , with little laughing inanely at anything and everything that large said, and the obvious 'staging' of everything. I hope Sabine doesn't do the same and appear like Vicky Butler Henderson on roids, but that said, it looks like they've gone with a line up to appeal more broadly to a world audience. Hope it goes well for them.
