I would have the following done.

  • Wishbones etc at the front of the car re-powdercoated.
  • Have a service.
  • Buy a wider umbrella for when caught in showers.

Forge the engine, though as that's technically in the plans anyway I'd say roll cage as that isn't in the pipeline this year

Too kind - I did come here to post something similar though, something along the lines of 'as many trackdays / brake pads / fuel as I can get for a grand!', haha.

new gearbox type 9 with a long with first, just about achievable selling my standard box and doing the work myself or selling one of the kids, kidneys  or splurge and develop a carbon habit   just don't tell the wife :)

I've already started to spend my thousand. Only got my Westy last autumn and this is what's getting done before the summer.

Replace the rusted chrome headlamps with matt black 5.3/4 inch units.

Replace old suspension units all round.

Replace rusted chrome wish bones with powder coated black units.

Replace upper and lower ball joints both sides.

Remove clam shells and replace with cycle wings.

Replace BBS type wheels with powder coated gunmetal grey five spokes and new tyres.

Sort a leak on the thermostat housing.

Sort a (hopefully) minor running problem.

Doesn't sound like much if you say it quickly ! I've sourced all of the parts from other members already and looking forward to getting some garage time now.

Decent rad and oil water heat exchanger then wear everything else out from being able to track it without temperature issues.
