TAFKARM
Is it even possible? Anyone done it and like to share the costs and pitfalls?

Mattt
You'd need approval first - either as specialist vehicle import scheme or personal import, then once it gets there it must pass SVA equivalent. I imported a TVR T350c there a few years back, was expensive!
JulianE
The vw diesel engined westfield that was built ended up getting exported from Ireland to Australia I think , I can't remember the name of the owner but am sure he is or was a member . Mark Stanton
I looked at it a few years ago ................... too expensive and way too much hassle to meet Aussie rules n regs - would be easier to sell your Westfield in UK - save the money and build one in Aus - there used to be a Westfield Australia a few years ago - although not directly connected to factory - They use a lot of Toyota engines down there. When I was last over a few years back I spotted a green one driving around Surfers Paradise :-)
Deanspoors
I looked at it too, and they have very strict emissions regs. A megabusa was definitely out of the question for me. The westfields sell for a lot of money over there though so the import fees, tax etc, are paid for once it's over there.
DerekJ
Could you strip it to parts and export them individually. Then rebuild it over there?
XTR2Turbo
If Steve Cropley from Autocar is to believed Australia is the last place I would want to take a Westfield. It has the most draconian speed limits and enforcement of any country in the world. Worse then Switzerland and Sweden.
benedwards64
Russ, have a read here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=&t=1365422 Chap over on PH rebuilt his Caterham and then shipped it over to Oz with him. I imagine he'd have some tips as to what's involved
Mattt
Australia almost killed my love of cars, pointless owning anything decent there.
Rab (bombero) Reid
I looked at it a few years ago ................... too expensive and way too much hassle to meet Aussie rules n regsA former Scottish member who emigrated a few years ago looked at this as well and came to the same conclusion!
