Bigchris092 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Looking for a replacement ring gear or flywheel for my xflow. Ring gear has split- I have an inertia type starter motor Chris
litcoat Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Is the ring gear the same on a 1300 as a 1600, if it is I've got one. Mark
Bigchris092 Posted February 1, 2016 Author Posted February 1, 2016 I can't be sure, I will do a little research and get back to you I know inertia/pre engaged rings are different but not sure how to identify. Still haven't got the engine/gbox out Will let you know, thanks.
Bigchris092 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Hi, the 1300/1600 Ring gears are the same. The only difference being pre-engaged and inertia. The majority if not all of the 1300's used the inertia type starter so hopefully it's correct. Can you confirm if the teeth have a chamfered edge? If so how much are you looking for? Chris
litcoat Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Sorry Chris, just saw your post, I'll check tomorrow and let you know. Cheers Mark
Bigchris092 Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Did you manage to check? Thanks Chris
litcoat Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hi Chris, just managed to get time to check, yes the teeth are chamfered, is there an easy way to get them off, I've been trying, just managed to bend a spanner and knackered a ratchet, they're not reverse threads are they? Cheers Mark
Bigchris092 Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 They are heated until they expand, dropped on and allowed to cool... I didn't realise it was on a flywheel. Probably too much trouble for you to remove. Do you need the flywheel? Chris

litcoat Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Not bothered about the fly wheel,it's getting the 6 bolts out that hold it all on, its going to be the heavy duty tackle tomorrow night
