bit of a wierd question but in a box of stuff that my parents found of mine in their loft was a hornby train, anyone know how i can test it to see if it works?

 

i was thinking its likely to be a simple 12V motor so i could just use a lab pack to test it.

Sit the wheels on the terminals of a PP3 Battery.

 

The wheels should turn.

They were all 12 volt before it went digital

Is it a two rail type or the older three rail kind?

Some had the engine ( motor ) in the tender rather than the loco itself  :t-up:
