stu999 Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 My Westy is now off the road. And before it sees tarmac again it will have a bike engine fitted, which leaves the following for sale; 1600 Xflow motor, never raced or rallied (until it has warmed up ) 711m block, virtually standard spec but subject to a complete rebuild by previous owner with receipts for over 1000 quid. Fitted with Westfield ally sump, will throw in exhaust manifold and 4 spd gearbox. Absolutely ideal for a budget build, can be heard running (at the moment), 200 quid ono. Westfield/MK1 Escort live axle, manual adjust brakes (no pesky auto adjusters) I havent got a clue what ratio, (but I will have a look at the weekend) for a standard chassis, no LSD, 40 quid ono. Complete set of VDO gauges, fuel, temp, oil, revs, speedo, again for above, 25 quid ono. Windscreen, glass has a few chips, but would do as a spare, with support pillars c/w wind deflectors 15 quid ono. Windscreen wiper motor/linkage/arms etc, 15 quid ono. Hood frame, hood, side screens etc, poor condition, offers. If interested in any of the above send a PM. If required, the above will be +postage. As some of the items would be unsuitable for posting, I am in the Shropshire area. Cheers, Stu.
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Wont you still need the axle even with a bike engine?
Clive Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 What condition are the sidescreens in? What wonga are you looking for them? Clive
stu999 Posted October 3, 2002 Author Posted October 3, 2002 Wont you still need the axle even with a bike engine? No John. IRS here I come.....One MIG welder and angle grinder loaded and ready for action. What condition are the sidescreens in? What wonga are you looking for them? Clive, They arent in terribly good nick I'm afraid. The screens are lightly scratched but are still 'see throughable'. Came up OK when I polished them a while ago but only used them a couple of times before relagating them to the shed. Tenner plus postage? P.s. Standard SE live axle prop available too, good condition, 15 quid.

Clive Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Stu, Forgot to ask, are the sidescreens for a standard (narrow) body Westfield? Clive
JulianS Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Hi Stu, Just how poor is the hood and what sort of price? Julian
stu999 Posted October 3, 2002 Author Posted October 3, 2002 Stu, Forgot to ask, are the sidescreens for a standard (narrow) body Westfield? Clive Yes they are. Hi Stu, Just how poor is the hood and what sort of price? Julian The hood has a tear in the left hand corner window, and one of the windscreen press stud thingys is starting to pull through. If you are interested, its free for collection or just pay for the postage... DIY independent rear end Keep us posted - it doesn't happen very often if at all. Yes I will mate. I have already have wishbones and uprights off an SEi, just got to fabricate the frame to hang 'em off. Once I have finished my other car....
JulianS Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 Cheers Stu, I'll be glad to have it - where are you?? I'm doing a fair bit of travelling Northwards this weekend (Great North Run) and Southwards next week end (Bristol). Can you mail me?? j.satterthwaite@orange.net Or call? 07976 724233
stu999 Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 I honestly dont know for sure. The history with the car isnt very clear as to what was actually done to the head, merely stating 'complete cyl head overhaul' on the receipt. I have always filled it with unleaded, and kept a close eye on tappet gaps for evidence of valve seat recession (none to date). I will see if I can confirm for sure with the previous owner, but that may take some time as he tends to work out of the country a lot. Other work compeleted to engine; re-bore block, regrind crank, new camshaft bearings, new 'GT' camshaft (whey-hey), face cylinder block, new small end bearings, new oil pump, new chain and tensioner, new pistons. Stu.
stu999 Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 Update: Windscreen sold. Gauges sold. Hood sold. Still have engine (with 4 into one exhaust manifold and gearbox) at present, but may have a new home soon.... Standard SE 4spd propshaft, Complete live axle, Side screens. Wiper motor, linkage etc. One wheel box is bo11oxed as nut was seized on it but I may have a spare to make a complete assembly....got to have a route in the loft.....
