dombanks Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 looks like i'm moving in jan. is it worth covering the car on the trailer using one of those lightweight covers or just accepting its going to get wet? i would have thought just leaving it would be the best option to stop the cover flapping about. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 A lot of people have reported "damage", (scuffing and scratches on the whole), when using a regular outdoor cover for long trips. I suspect you'd get away with short, non motorway/dual carriageway type journeys. You can get special towing accessories for covers now a days though - the ones I've seen look a bit like an elasticated net that goes over the top of the regular cover and keeps it pulled tight to the car and unable to flap and move round. Terry Everall Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I would not bother with a cover 1 Quote
B.RAD Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I can speak from experience on this one! Don't use a cover unless you have a proper trailer cover net like this one http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/acatalog/info%5fCH1%2ehtml Reason being is that the cover balloons up horrendously without it, you can't travel above about 20mph and as Dave has said, the horrific amount of movement causes all sorts of damage to the car. Strapped down with a proper net they're fine though. The best solution I've found by far is to just use a tonneau over the cockpit, no faffing about with covers and keeps the interior dry. Quote
mark.anson Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I would not bother with a cover I agree with Terry. If you have carpets take them out for the journey and if seat is upholstered cover up with a large plastic bag and gaffer tape it on. Quote

lewis Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 My generic car cover caught the wind and very almost came off on the way to a track day on an A road. Noticed just before the last corner gave out! Quote
TAFKARM Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 It won't melt...bin bags on the seats if it's very bad weather. Quote
