Will it / Won't it ?

So, as Christmas draws near, the big question on every petrolhead's lips is;

Will petrol prices dip under £1 per litre ???

All the signs certainly indicate the continuing downward trend.  OPEC has said it wants to (continue to) monopolise the market share for the remainder of the time we continue to refine fossil fuels.  This suggests that they won't consider raising crude prices by with-holding supply but rather that they want low prices to prevail to off-set any price differentials for early adopters of alternative techlologies.

Anyway, lower pump prices must be good all round eh?

Unless of course the taxman starts slipping in fuel duty escalators in the mis-belief that motorists won't notice due to the falling prices?

The lowest pump price (for unleaded) that I've noticed was £1.03 in Wrexham this week.  My local / regular garage is £1.05 so not too far behind.

Petrolprices.com reports the average to be £1.02  but I'm not too sure if I believe that....

Has anyone seen cheaper???

Been 99.9p at all the supermarkets in Worcester since the weekend - and we're usually 2-3p above the cheapest areas here

99.9 in Bedford's Sainsburys too, so the O/H reported yesterday.

Yes Morrisons here 99.9. Which is annoying as I am tied to a particular brand and paid 114.9 for Derv on Sunday night!

99.9 here, but it's mapped on the posh stuff anyway so no joy on that front.
