S2KGSY Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi all, thought I would introduce myself on here as I have just been to the Westfield factory to pick up my Mega S2000 kit which was ordered back in August. After hiring a van and taking a ferry trip across the channel I finally have the kit in my garage and have spent the last few days getting parts unpacked and stored. I started tonight by installing the floor panels and front battery floor. This will be a RHD car but I notice the chassis comes with pedal mounting brackets for both RHD and LHD. What have other people done with the unused brackets.....just leave them in place or remove them?? Don't they get in the way for the passenger?? Ben. Quote
Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I removed mine, then put the battery in the foot well. Quote
S2KGSY Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Doesn't the battery normally go at the front? Quote
Andy (Sycho) Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi, I left mine I didn't want to remove the powder coat, if I had known I wouldn't have had it powder coated & cut all the extra bits off. I was going to cover mine with something like this. http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/rally/footrests/jjc-navigators-footrest Andy Quote
S2KGSY Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Thanks Andy. That looks good. Think I'll do the same as I don't want to ruin the nice powder coat! Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The passenger footwell on a current car is way too long for most to be comfortable any way. I'm 6'1" and my feet don't reach the end when I ride shot gun! So a footrest of some kind is no bad thing anyway. The standard battery position is in the nose, as that's a convenient bit of empty space in an otherwise crowded footwell. But bear in mind, as standard a wet cell battery is used too. I'm not sure if Toms using a gel type battery or not, I'd assume so. But I wouldn't want a wet cell type in the cockpit with me. (Gel batteries don't have any runny acid in them to leak out, and being thick gel between the plates, can be mounted on their sides etc as well.) There are pro's and con's with either position. Quote

Sorry should have said, I'm not using the standard acid battery you get with the kit, I'm running an Odyssey Gel battery on its side, hence the foot rest Then put a battery monitor/charging point on the ECU panel Quote
S2KGSY Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Thanks all. Looks like a good setup there Dave. Better weight distribution as well I'd imagine. Quote
