Hello in my new role as North Yorkshire AO

Hello All.

I was asked a while ago if I would be interested in the post of AO and I accepted a couple of days ago.

I have organised two events within East Yorkshire prior to Christmas.

The first is a winter picnic and here is a link to the post within the WSCC forum.

The second event is to allow us all to get together and have something to eat followed by a game of bowling, a visit to Terror Towers, an hour or so in the amusements followed by a lemontop ice-cream to round off the afternoon.

This would not involve driving out in our Westfield cars but would be a great chance for husbands, wives and children to have a nice few hours out.

Here is a link to the post within the WSCC forum.

During the past year or so, I have organised a number of drives out and a number of people have stated that it is nice to have someone who is willing to organise excursions out because at present there is no-one within the area who organises any events.

I will be honest and say that racing and going fast does not appeal but drives out to scenic places is my kind of thing.

I would like to build on this and hopefully involve more "partners" as most of the drivers are usually on their own.

I am not in a position to have a monthly meet in a pub but I am in a position to organise lots of lovely drives out with good stops for food and refreshment, this will also provide lots of opportunities for a natter.

I do drive my Westfield all year round and spend a lot of time on the North Yorkshire Moors or in the Yorkshire Dales and I feel that this is something that can be built upon.

I am looking forward to this opportunity and I am already looking forward to a good year ahead.

Great news Geoffery, will look forward to lots of pictures and stories of your events. More activities can only be good for the club.

All the best

Glen and Julie

Thanks Julie and Glen.

I have a few ideas planned including......

Win a Westfield car and Win a years supply of petrol. [conditions apply]

The condition being that Scott agrees to it??

Don't forget to include a run out to the 'AO's' only secret holiday retreat, it books up quickly :p  :p

No, the condition being Scott wins it and it's delivered by me to St Lucia.

I'm looking forward to your plans and confident you'll do a great job buttercup.

I also like the way you want to "do it your way" rather than following convention.

i'd suggest "Geoffreys' jaunts" as a working title for your run-out extravaganzas....

Well I like that Craig.

Geoffrey's Jaunts it is. :d

I have a few ideas but getting people to buy into them is a different thing.

I am looking forward to it though.

if only I was a little closer to you (in a geographical rather than an emotional) kind of way....

Hi Geoff and congratulations on your new role. You have done a stirling job of organising runs out and I am sure you will continue to do so in the future. As you live in one of our favourite parts of the country Sue and I would join you regularly if it wasn't a 150 mile journey to the starting point. However, we will try to join you sometime in the new year  :)  :)

Hi Martyn?

Thank you for the compliment and I have thoroughly enjoyed the runs over this past couple of years that I have owned Buttercup.

It would be great to meet up in the future. Is the Dales any closer as Myself and Carol often go over that way quite a lot.

A huge well done Geoffrey, for stepping forward. Hope to join one of your jaunts soon, as well.
