Cat 'C'......................?

Just come across this on ebay

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westfield-2005-2LTR-CAT-C-DAMAGE-REPAIRABLE-EASY-EASY-FIX-/221939273505?hash=item33ac9c8f21:g:IRQAAOSwjVVVtflw

It's shown as a Cat C easy repair. Not too sure how easy that would be. Surely at the least it would need re-jigging? If not a new chassis .

Ah, tvrglen... that ad should come with a free barge pole. Stay away. WELL away. In this case, I know what "C" stands for and it's nothing good.

If you need to ask the question .. walk away.

There are plenty of bargain, top notch, cars out there at the moment.

Look at the chassi pics, that's well bent. New front at least, possibly whole chassis.

Glen needs to stick to TVR's, he is up near me, seems to pay top dollar, but then charge top dollar. Some mug will buy it, just make sure it's not you.

Defo a new chassis that one, some good bit's on it though, if the price was right.

This has been on pistonheads for a while, I'm no expert but when my car was Cat C written off it was a bit more "cosmetic" than that.

This is the one I considered when I first started looking for a Westfield. Theres a thread on here of my discussion which started pretty much the same as yours.

http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/115604-cat-c-question/

I actually have seen this car in the flesh, twice, so the first time its engines was out, and on a trailer with a damaged chassis, Glen told me he had had it jigged and they were going to repair it. The second time I went up it was on the ramp inside a leaky garage, top part of the chassis had been cut off and was being pieced back together, Glen wasn't there this time so I spoke to one of his guys. At this point I was still mad keen with my rose tinted glasses on, even talked about how much deposit they would want to hold it. Anyway, after much discussion on the forum and looking about, I decided that it wasn't the route for me, Its been badly wrapped (the white section is all vinyl). Theres something just not quite right with this one. So I walked away, upped my budget a bit and bought a straight one that I could drive away, and so pleased I did.

Just to add that when I saw the original advert, it said cosmetic damage and when I rang him he confirmed it was only fibre glass repairs which was what got me hooked as this would have been a piece of cake. I then saw it advertised on Pistonheads with the chassis pics. That front end had been cut to bits, not only the 'V' at the front was being replaced but also the top rails on the engine bay, and even as tidy as the new welding was it wasn't being re-built on a jig.

Its spent a bit of time outside in the Ashington weather and there was signs of surface rust appearing in places, although the garage was not better with the leaking roof.

No, I'm not interested, I already have my Westy. Just came across it when it appeared on one of my searches. Personally, I think it would be better stripped and sold for parts, or the price dropped substantially to take into account the need for a new chassis. I can't see him getting a sale otherwise.
