We all love women but?

We all love women, I still have the one I married almost 50 years ago but why, why, why, do companies employ them in positions without previous training or experience.

It took me three Merc dealers to find one that employed middle aged men as service advisers as opposed to teenage girls you explain a problem eg " sometimes the auto shift requires movement before the starter will engage" they then write " look at gearbox" on the job sheet!!!

I am installing an Aqualisa digital shower, brilliant bit of kit although stupidly expensive, all electronic, it actually mixes the water, tells you when it's just right, and can be turned on/off remotely. There are 4 huge installation sheets 800x400mm double sided covering the main components Diverter/Processor/Riser/Drencher,  they all overlap each other and contradict, I was wiring up the main cables and was unsure on the last one so rang technical, This young lady was reading the same instructions I was, Oh it looks OK , if you are unsure just switch it on and see if it works ok.

I will ring back tomorrow and see if any grown ups are available.

Had the same last week, can I have 2 bulk bags of sharp sand and 4 20mm limestone. I actually got 3 sand and 3 limestone, how the heck that happened I don't know, the delivery driver said the same, she wants training with the products we offer and her ears syringing.

A friend and I were left with red faces a couple of years back - he had a new-age Mini Cooper S that was making an odd ticking noise, so on the off-chance we dropped into the BMW/Mini dealership to see if anyone could help.

After describing the symptoms to the receptionist were were told to wait 5 minutes and one of the technical team would come and look. 5 minutes later a young-ish lady walks over and asks how she can help?

"Oh," says we, " we're just waiting for the mechanic to come and look at our ticking car. Do you know where he is?"

"Yes - that's me" says she.

She was very gracious  about our embarrassment, but we still felt pretty bad! :S

Not always, pressurise a bloke and he will usually go and find someone who knows and not just wing it on a menu card..

Agreed. That's the point (in a roundabout way) I was trying to make.

I have to add to this....

Me and a mate were sitting in the new M5 a couple of years ago on the BMW stand at Goodwood Revival. A young lady came straight over to us and started talking: "do you like it sir? does it look like your next car sir?" etc. We mentioned it was a shame its not a V10 any more and that it's now a turbocharged V8. She said, in her most 'trying to be convincing, winging it way': "ahh yes that is because a lot of people were finding it difficult to control and to park sir, and too powerful and so they went to the V8 instead sir"

OMG. No words!!!!

Edited to add, I'm not sure the fact she was a women here was relevant, just the general winging it attitude of someone young with no knowledge of the subject. I guess it could have been a bloke, but he wouldn't have looked as appealing on the stand!

I encountered a lady technician who worked for a large mobile phone provider. This was at an exhibition (IFSEC  in case anyone knows it), and she was not only very well informed but actually knew a lot about the deep technology too. She was ex-military by background. Most impressed...

We had one of those put in our last house - great bit of kit, you won't be disappointed.
