What needs to happen now is for him to be hunted down and jailed. But I doubt that will happen in this new era of policing. When I had a car stolen, the officer then told me that he was ashamed to come out to owners like me. The car was worth £10k and we give you a crime number, but if that was £10k stolen from a bank they would be on it like a rash. Both are insured against loss yet the owner of that car will be given a crime number only.
