Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Hi Guys Just started to plan next years road trip down to the Italian Lakes and the Mountains Roads just north. We're looking for a Hotel in the Lake Como region where we can stay for about a week and go off driving the mountain roads but also have day off relaxing by the lake or pool.............. The hotel needs to have private parking (gates would be nice) Any recommendation??? Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I looked at going to stay around Lake Como and I couldn't afford anything what I found. I will watch this thread with interest and jealousy. Quote
Terryathome Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 700 euro should get you something. Looked last year but went to Austria instead. Suggest you get something like booking.com app and book it now so you don't miss out as they fill up quite quick. In fact just looked and good cheapish rooms are going quick. 1 Quote

Onliest Smeg David Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 How many of you are there Tom. Know of a good value 2 bedroom apartment in Arco, North of Lake Garda I'd recommend. Arco is a lovely little town with good bars and food. Quote
1959grantura Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I fully appreciate I could just be a one off but very wary of booking.com now after pre-booking a hotel 7 months in advance for paris roubaix event only for them to cancel two days before leaving us no options but over an hour away for a 5:30am start with twice the price. They did finally reburse us after battling for three months. 1 Quote

You up for coming with us Quote

Onliest Smeg David Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Have you had a look at Air BnB? Know several who have had great accommodation via this. Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I've used Airbnb once, it worked for us. Quote
kmd1154 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Not Como, but I've used the Hotel Olympia in Arabba a number of times. It's in the Dolomites not far from Cortina and has instant access to some of the best driving roads and mountain passes you could wish for. Quote
Stuart Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Tom - you know that Lake Garda is about 150 miles from Lake Como? Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 we stopped in Bardolino on Lake Garda in a lovely modern apartment last year for three nights the only negative with that particular apartment was the lack of close parking! Worth a look though and if you need details just let me know Quote
