McDuff
Quick update: since Tricky and I got her going 10 days ago, various health issues have delayed progress a little. Bought an Edge/Cambridge Motorsport CVH starter (CF007) from Burton Power and tried to fit today, but no way would it fit and didn't even bother to wire it or bolt it up. The only thing I can think is that it may be designed for a FWD car? Any body know whether Edge or anyone else do a High Torque starter for a Westie based CVH and Type 9 gearbox? Just hope Burton will accept a return as at £155 a go it's not cheap? John
Captain Colonial
I'm having very much a similar problem with mine and a four speed gearbox. There are minor differences in the bolt locations. Over the winter I'll take it off and take it with me to my motor factors to get an exact match, or perhaps send it off for rebuilding. Good luck! DamperMan
I have no details but my cvh with an in known starter has a spacer between the starter and bell housing. This looks a proper milled out nice part not a home made bunch of washers.
McDuff
Hi sounds interesting, any possibility of a photo? Many thanks................John
McDuff
Have contacted Cambridge Motorsport who make the Edge starters. They can design and build custom starters to fit Westfield RWD applications, although they need a few measurements of bell housing, flywheel etc. For my CVH and Sierra box it works out about £189, based on an initial estimate. DamperMan
There are numbers on the starter and solinoid...I've tried to read them by poking my camera under in and taking snap shots... I think its ..25290k 5M80 on the starter body.
McDuff
Thanks for the information. Cambridge Motorsport have just told me that the data plate on my starter indicates it's for a PINTO ! How can this be I wonder? I am more confused . So, which starter do I need? CVH, Pinto, custom or what? At £189 a go, I need to get it right first time. Captain Colonial
Try this site: http://www.brise.co.uk/Ford/ In particular, each one has a specification sheet with dimensions that you can cross check with your existing starter, but you need to take it out of the car.
