Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 An 8 second film that I think captures the fun and excitement of the day beautifully. Engines running, we were just ready for the off. https://youtu.be/jD38hTwhX-E As Bioman mentioned it is exactly 1 year since my first monthly meet as AO. It has been an amazing year thanks to you lot. Miracles happen at this time of the year and 2 happened yesterday. 1. It didn't rain. 2. Julie was celebrating Christmas. That was Trevors doing, as this was his idea, see, eveyone needs a Trevturtle in their life. When the Mr Man at Westfield House had the idea of making these cars he must have thought people would get enjoyment out of them. I bet he never thought he could bring so much fun to so many peoples lives. We have waved to everybody in the Peak District, nobody could miss us and there was no option, they were waving back. Bikers in Matlock, Police in Ashbourne, cyclists (some also dressed as Santa) and families walking down the street. The bride and groom having photo's in Bakewell even stopped to wave back. Everyone loved it, Bioman filmed some of it and hopefully if it goes quiet over Christmas he might get time to put it on here. The route I chose took us through the main towns of the Peak District so we saw the most people, opposite to what we normally do. The number of people driving other cars that pointed or waved was great. So, who came on this crazy trip with me. Well Santa of course, lots of them. Appearing as Santa was Trevturtle, Mr and Mrs Bioman, Martyn and Sue (elf), Rickyboy and Glen. Trevor had a great idea to bring the music, very novel in a Westfield, he also bought homemade donuts, yummy. We met at Halfords, Ashbourne. Look, no doors! they are learning my ways. Martyn, get that elf to help you! We arrived at The Wanted Inn. Sparrowpit for lunch. It is right on the notorious Sparrowpit bend (see the large number of chevrons in the picture) and every car and lorry that slowly went past gave us a toot and got a wave in return. In the pub we shuffled about near the fire, deciding who would be the human shield as we were wearing thermals and you soon get hot. Rickyboy was dragging it out a bit now, he was to meet the family at Meadowhell (Shopping Centre), hide here a bit and she will have done the shopping by the time you get there, now that's true Westfield styling. After lunch Bioman and Rickyboy came with us as far as Bakewell before heading off North and Martyn/Sue, Trevturtle and us headed South to finish at The Bentley Brook. Then it was time to go home, hoping the neighbours didn't see you arrive back. The Wanted Inn, Sparrowpit. The fire, we were about ready to start basting Rickyboy at one point, he was that close to it. Thanks to everyone for a great day with a difference. 2 Quote

Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Video great Rickyboy weather looked great, as indeed it was, that is until we left the Bentley Brook in Ashbourne We had very heavy rain and flooded roads for the hour journey home. We were a very soggy santa and elf when we arrived home Great day though, thanks everyone, hope you all have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year 1 Quote
