JPLS Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 With regret I am selling my recently built Mazda SDV Westy to fund a new venture. The car was built by myself over a period from Feb 2013 to the successful IVA pass June 2014, registered as a new vehicle August 2015 on an age related plate (so 2 more years before an MOT required). It is based on a 1996 Mk1 Mazda MX5, modified 1.8 engine, 5 speed gearbox and has covered 1000 miles only. The car was carefully built with all Mazda parts checked refurbished or renewed as required. The brakes have been upgraded with vented and drilled disks all round and green stuff linings, new bearings at all 4 corners. Upgraded the rear axle with an LSD installed. Modified air intake and powder coated engine covers RAC roll over bar with modified boot space to accommodate. Car comes with full tonneau cover, half hood and car cover. Full file of build receipts and picture history. See Blog http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/blog/15-nothing-ventured-nothing-gained/ During the winter of 2014 / 2015 the engine was completely rebuilt with the assistance of Blink Motorsport, and the 'optimised' package was taken with a full bottom end and head rebuild with the inclusion of the programmable Mega squirt ECU and wide band Lambda sensor -http://www.blinkmotorsport.com/packages.html. Also added at this point was an upgraded 'Radtech' radiator and 16 row oil cooler with thermostat. This engine has just completed 1000 miles and is on its 3rd Oil change, so barely run in. The engine Dyno'd at 110bhp at the wheels on fresh build, but over the last 1000 miles the performance is getting better and better as the engine free's up and the soundtrack is superb - I will try to get some updated power figures if I am able, but you will not be disappointed. See the pictures as below The car is currently insured with A plan at an agreed value of £17500 for the next 2 years so I have set a reasonable asking price. PM me or email jonscragg@gmail.com if you are interested or for more detail if required. Car is located in Leyland, Lancashire.
AdamR Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Shame to see you selling Jon. Its a lovely car with great attention to detail through the build, and certainly feels a lot quicker than the power figure would suggest!
JPLS Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Thanks Adam - you have not ridden in it since the engine has freed up - maybe I will let you loose in it for an proper objective view and write up. Not an easy decision to put it up for sale, but new venture beckons Westy is not going to get used TC
AdamR Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Ah yes, forgot it had been tinkered with since I'd been out in it! More than happy to have a blast if you wish A shame to sell given the work you've out in but as you said, if the cash is better used elsewhere and you won't use the car...
