Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Just to let you know, this coming Saturday the Yorkshire Air Show is at Church Fenton, Tadcaster, LS24 9SE. If the weather is good we will be going in our Westfield. Entry is £20 per person, which includes car parking. I will update this post when we get a weather forecast and if anyone wants to meet up we can go in together. Cheers, Julie Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 The ticket line is open right up to the morning of the show, but thanks for pointing it out, Tricky. Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Weather is forecast good all weekend so I have bought our tickets for this event. Avro Vulcan Bomber here we come. If anyone wants to meet up in their Westie we can have a miniature car meet too in the car park. If not, the Reverse Meringue run is on Sunday, so you can still take advantage of all this good weather. PM me or get in touch and I will arrange a meeting place depending on your direction of travel. I am leaving Chesterfield at 8.30am and aim to be there for 10am. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I'll be there but not in the SEiGHT but will come and say hello Buzz Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Hi Buzz, Great, shall we meet you at the Fokker DR1 triplane, around 10.30 ish. Glen will have some form of clothing with the WSCC logo on and I will have 10 more layers on than an average person (it will be chilly on the A1 in a Westy first thing). Or otherwise to suit you, we are flexible. Cheers Julie Quote
Chris Emm Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Try that again if it did not post..... Am out of it this weekend. Enjoy the runs (that does not sound quite right) but I think you know what I mean...... Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 No, Chris, it doesn't quite sound right, but, yes I know what you mean. Sorry, you can't come this weekend, maybe next weekend, you could always subject a golf buddy to the Westfield, love or hate it they will certainly remember it. Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 OK, so meeting up with Buzz didn't quite go to plan. We queued for half an hour to get in then by the time we got to the stationary display it was all a bit late. My Westfield sat lovely in the traffic, no overheating at all thanks to Northampton Motorsport. I thought it was an air show but really it was a camera show, the aeroplanes were just there to give you something to focus on. Then I found out why there were all these snazzy cameras about....because it's blooming hard work photographing planes in flight with a standard one. Back to cars, well we are on a car forum, nice and easy to photograph, they just sit there. Here is the display from the Leeds MG and Classic Car Club There were vintage cars there too I have a video of this Dakota starting up which I will put on tomorrow, it also gives a good view of the show. It goes downhill from here I am afraid, I did take many beautiful pictures of the lovely Yorkshire sky, whoops. The video, when it comes, is a bit long and seemingly boring but stick with it. The pilot sticks his head out of the cockpit at a convenient time. Watch out for fire coming out of the silencer. Then there is quite a bit of other planes moving around, which sums up the day really, far too much to see, you could do with three heads and four sets of ears. Quote
