Andrew Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 The Goodwood meeting is airing live on Motors TV for most of today. (from 9-45) I watched some of it yesterday on a youtube live link.. the touring car race is particularly mouth watering! Shedden, Neal, Jordan, Plato etc etc in Lotus Cortinas, Minis etc etc That one kicks off about 2-25pm today. [vid] [vid] Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Is it live? When I looked in on it it seemed that I had seen the particular segment before. I assumed it was last year. If it is live I've missed a big chunk of it! Edited at quarter past three: It looks as if I didn't miss much at all - thanks for the tip. Quote
CraigHew Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Thanks for the heads-up, that was a better race than some BTCC rounds....... Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 It certainly was - if you muted the sound when Mr Excitable started dribbling on! I love the way those drivers give no quarter despite the age and value of the cars. Quote
jimthedrummer Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Fantastic! Thanks for that. Just got to explain to the wife why the hall is not painted now................... Quote
Andrew Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 That touring car race was superb! Tom Kristensen had a good day! Half a lap practice, starts from the back row and wins! Pt 2 is tomorrow at 12-40. Matt Neal in Shedden's Cortina. Quote
jeff oakley Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I have said this before but I am a very lucky man having a wife like mine (35years so far). She bought me two days tickets Sat and Sunday for the revival. Lunch at the Cedar lodge, transported there and back in vintage cars and grandstand tickets, for my birthday present. We were in the Lavant grandstand watching the races and for noise the Canams were just amazing, when you are used to tracks with 100db but for displays of pure driving it was the race won by Tom Kristensen. He came from last through the field in a display of driving which was awesome. The car is a huge old barge that you would think against the nimble cars would be lost but he seemed to just drift in and out of corners without lifting. Part two of the race is tomorrow where the car owners drive, as Matt Neal owns the Loutus that Sheddon was driving I think that is a good bet for the win, for those who have never been this is a bucket list one I think. We have been before but it gets better as the racers actually race. No saving tyres or fuel. There was more overtaking in that one race than in a season of F1. Quote
Pistol Pete Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I went for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed the day out. Shots of the cars entering the corners side ways side by side was fantastic - I think less grip is much better than today's motorsport. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I went a few years ago and I can honestly say it was the best day at a motorsport event I've ever attended. The Festival of Speed is brilliant, but the atmosphere at the Revival is fantastic. Quote
1959grantura Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 The 500 race just now was fantastic !! Quote
CraigHew Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Matt Neal in Shedden's Cortina. Not quite. Matt Neal in Matt Neal's Cortina. Quote
Sparkymart Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Well on my way home now from my first visit to the revival .i was well impressed really great day out but I'm going to have to do the whole weekend next year and take my credit card ... Spitfire flights £2700 now that's tempting lol Quote
David-hrv Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Yep, fantastic event. Whatched it on tv inbetween doing chores and saw my old mate Andy Middlehurst winning the Glover Trophy for the 5th consecutive time in Jim Clark's Lotus 25. Well done Andy! I'll be there next year. Quote
Mooch Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Yup. Just back from doing all 3 days - did the camping thing. Watched the racing from Madgewick with comfy chairs, several bottles of fine ale and two great buddies. Too many highlights to list because it's just soooooo good. I did ask about the factory restored DB4 Volante in blue in the Earls Court exhibit. OIEO £2m apparently. Someone give me 6 good numbers, quick! If you've not been before, give it a go. Even the 'B' Public Carpark for tax-exempt cars is better than most motor shows. You'll never see so many cars you simply must have! 1 Quote
Andrew Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 I caught most of the races on TV / Youtube. The Touring cars being my favorites, followed very closely by the Cobras and E types! .. and the bikes! Haydon and McWilliams, superb! .. there wasn't really a boring race all weekend was there. Well done Goodwood! Quote
