Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Can't you tax it a month at a time now? But if you do have a long list of winter upgrades, you might need to start now Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 What's SORN? 1 Quote
Mooch Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 It's a long list Dave Warp drive, mappable dilithium crystal ECU, unobtanium-fibre front and rear wings, NOX injectors, braking parachute.......just the usual Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I also got my reminder but I've decided to re-tax it so I can get in some last minute blatting through October, before surrendering the tax and SORN'ing the car from November .. I'm loving this new online taxing system! Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Can't you tax it a month at a time now? But if you do have a long list of winter upgrades, you might need to start now Not much has changed other than you can pay by direct debit but I don't think this allows you to tax months selectively. The whole system is poor and still takes about 3 to 6 weeks to get a refund. If you think you are going to tax and then sorn best to tax for 12 months and then cancel. If you tax for 6 months you get less back if you cancel. 1 Quote

Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 What's SORN? I'm with Dave on this- keep it taxed and you'll work faster on the upgrades Quote
dombanks Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 yes you can tax it monthly, sort of, technicallyish. just relies on you cancelling the direct debt and setting it back up again and getting the timings right. so if you wanted the car say in nov. set up the monthly payment on the first and then cancel/declare sorn within the time limit for it to be sorned on the 1 dec. i did it the other year for one month when i wanted to do the nov oulton track day. bought the tax one day and then 5 days later sorn'd it Quote
