Side screen & wind deflector storage in the garage?

Recommended Posts

Getting fed up of putting whatever I'm not using on the floor, and want somewhere 'clean' to keep either the side screens or wind deflectors depending on what I'm using.

I was Googling for something similar to the Westfield windscreen mounting points - circa 5-6mm internal diameter, e.g. one half of a large hinge, but can't see anything suitable.

Short of buying some aluminium tube and welding it onto a flat bar with mounting holes - has anyone else got any ideas?

I  have a storage solutions for my doors/wind deflectors, i'll try and take a picture later.its a quite simple solution.

I purchased an additional set of female brackets (4) I then used a couple of pieces of wood, (ones an old bit of floor board from memory the other a  bit of 2x1) and some basic hinges. (apart from the female brackets it was all stuff I had lying around)

Each of the pieces of wood is about a foot long, but they just need to be as long as the gap between the mount points for the doors/wind deflectors.

the 2x1 is attached to the floor board along the long edge with the hinges and then the 2/1 is screwed to the wall vertically, The female hinges are then mounted 2 each side of the floor board to allow either the doors or wind deflectors to be mounted. with the wind deflectors mounted the floorboard is more or less at 90 degrees to the wall, where as with the doors attached it's only a few degrees from the wall.

This is not the best description but it should give you the general ideal, I'll take and upload a picture later which should explain it much better.

Mine are boxed and covered in the garage... Along with half hood, cover. Its like an accessory wardrobe - what does the car need to wear today.

the reason I have it hinged is so that with the doors on I can swing it so that the doors fit flat against the wall but with the deflectors on is they need to stick out into the garage to keep them away from the wall.
