Good garage in Hertford

Stuart

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

Had a great day at BTCC in Rockingham with my lads today.  Marred by my eldest lad's clutch failing on his Hyundai i20 on the way back to Hertford.  2 years old and 18,000 miles - common problem I now read.

So, could anyone in the area recommend a reputable garage in Hertford?  By the sounds of it I don't think he's gonna be able to drive it far.

Any info will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Stuart

Dad has been happy with Fownhope Motors, but a Mitsubushi dealership.

The old TVR Centre and a Westfield dealer moved from Barnet (Arkley) to Hertford I believe. They were pretty decent. Hertford is not a million miles from me and there are a couple of independents in Barnet such as Murphy Motors and T&H Motors that I and friends have used with no problems.

Try them for advice/quote.

Thanks very much Andy - I rang a couple of places in Hertford this morning and the guy at AVS seemed pretty knowledgeable about the Hyundai clutch issue, had done a few before and offers a decent warranty.  So I've taken a punt and booked it in there.

Is there a Mr Clutch nearby? Had a couple of tintops done by them and they were fast and efficient as you would expect from a company that just does clutches...

Ain't they covered by a 5 year warranty? I know it's termed a consumable but 18000 miles, that's 70's technology.

Blatman I looked and couldn't find one.  Rusty if you Google you'll find threads on Honest John etc. about premature failures and stories about six month old cars with 3,500 mile on being turned down for warranty claims on clutch failure by Hyundai dealers and then Hyundai.  Guy it's going to says it's an adjustment problem - leaves the factory close to slip point.  Mind you, it was from Motorpoint and doubtless an ex hire car - so don't think there's any chance of a warranty claim

Yep I contacted that one Blatters. He wouldn't have made it to Enfield there were no more miles left in that clutch. He dropped it off at AVS this evening so hopefully sorted soon. Cheers anyway
