Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup)
Hello all. On Saturday 12th September I am planning the following trip. I went over to Blackpool last year in Buttercup for the illuminations and had a great day and I am going to be doing it again. I intend to go through the Dales, over to the Lake District and then drop down to Blackpool for the illuminations before driving home. We will be having breakfast, dinner and tea out and will be enjoying the scenery with no blasting along. Yes it is a long day but it is enjoyable and would love to meet a few people on the route if anyone would like to join us. Here is my proposed route. Does anyone fancy coming. Never Too Old
Hi Geoffrey, Would love to participate in the drive but we're leaving for the Isle Of Man on the 12th so maybe next year if you organise this drive again - sounds fantastic! Cheers, Roger
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup)
Hi Roger. Thanks for the reply. Its a good run and went a similar route last year but on our own. it was great fun going along the m62 at 1.00am singing dirty songs at the top of our voices. We went on a whim and did not set off till late afternoon hence the late night.
Onliest Smeg David
Looks a great day out. Assume Motorway back from Blackpool is for speed late in day.
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup)
Yes. That's correct. And for the candle power headlights. Thanks also for the nice comment.
bioman
HI Geoff, Sorry Liz and I will be out of the country on the 12th. Really disappointed as even if we didn't do the whole route we would have done at least half. Just a thought, if your going to organise for next year, what about setting a date a few months before so people like me commit and plan ahead. Re the candle power headlights, yep; I know what you mean coming back from our "Fish & Chip" meet in December was an experience, (must eat more carrots ). Have a great day out. Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup)
Hi Richard. Sorry you cannot make it. Comment noted about a few months notice and will bear that in mind. Its difficult though as I get comments that say to much notice, not enough notice so I have been trying to work on two weeks with a few BTTT a few days before. I will keep texting you invites so we will catch up again no doubt.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Anything bigger, particularly with early starts that's a little off the beaten track benefits from plenty of notice, as those wanting to join may need to travel up the night before. All day runs are quite a different kettle of fish to just hundred mile or less blats. Your itineraries and post event write ups always make me want to come along. But (as an example), I'd have a roughly two hour trip to get to most of your starting points, and similar at the end of the day. So really, I'd be one that needs to stop over the night before, which then means arranging work cover + respite care +, well you get the idea! There's no such thing as "too much notice", provided you also keep adding reminders as you get nearer.
Rory's Dad
We organised an evening trip last year and it was brilliant. Obviously it helped 'cos it was properly dark! The meeting point was the services at the A59/M6 Junction. I hope we can do it again this year.
