Only 3 out of the 10 E passport gates are working, massive queues and luggage taking 2 hours to arrive on the baggage belt.

I waited 90 minutes at Stansted last month.

 

I was told that there is some dispute between airport operator / BAA and the government about how much they will pay for the extra staff required.

 

End result is crap service.

i used to have to drop the ex at luton .... the roads in are a right mare. what numpty thought of that system. dunno if its any better, doubt it

Last year I returned with BA from Bangkok and landed at Heathrow. It took 3hrs to get the bags out of the hold as they said they could not open the doors as they had jammed shut due to ice!!!!!!!!!

What amazes me, is you  go to a third world country and their airports are very efficient in Check In and Security, the public areas are adorned with marble floors and walls, fountains and fresh flowers and cleaned constantly, nice places to be. Victoria (Seychelles), Manila, Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok come to mind here.

 

Come back to the UK such as Gatwick or Luton and it makes you feel really depressed with the waiting, dimly lit public areas and rubbish everywhere.   Who would of thought we are supposed to be one of the most advanced countries in the world.
