Nemesis Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I decided a couple of weeks ago to change my tin top........ Long story short, fancied a Lexus...... but would have had to spend way too much to get a Hybrid car that can tow...... Audi on the other hand..... A4 Saloon, 3 Litre V6 Quatro Wheasle with mind bending torque and acceleration.... (I reckon it will keep up with the ASBO !) the S-Tronic flappy paddle gearbox is flawless and the build quality all round is spectacular...... and as for the gizmo's and gadgets....... where on earth do they pack all the clever stuff away? The only regret I have is that I've mumbled on for far too long about the change..... wish I'd done it a couple of years ago..... Nem...... Quote
Andy (Sycho) Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 We've got a a4 avant Quattro, great car the only downside it eats tyres. Andy Quote
darve Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I've got an A5 and agree the gearbox is lovely for cruising along Do miss having a clutch at times. Might be just me but feels like when you want to pull out quickly you have to wait half a second for the electronics to know that's what you're after. I.e. you can't rev it and bring the clutch up..... unless I'm missing something.... Quote
Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 You've found the only real weakness of a twin clutch, Dave. There is no torque multiplication like with a torque converter auto, so the trans has to control slip and allow the revs to climb at the same time in launch... Quote
SootySport Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Welcome to Audi ownership Paul, bit different to the old Vauxhall, isn't it? I've a manual box but still can't spin the wheels in the wet or dry, takes off frighteningly fast and that's with the trailer and Westy on the back What year is yours? Quote

There are ways of re mapping these boxes for quicker changes, not sure if it will improve standing starts though. Quote

Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I know you love the detail really, Dave I'll save the full clutch control story for next time... Quote
