anyone had any experience with this? My 2008 diesel legacy is coming up to 150k miles now and is very clattery when cold (yes, it's a boxer and a diesel but still I think it could be better!).

There are some pretty nice claims for the stuff and the effect it had on the XK8 on wheeler dealers was pretty impressive.

Anyone tried it on westie or tin top?

There's a lot of people on the Jaguar forum who have reportedly used it to good effect, but there's also a lot who favour putting two-stroke oil in their fuel too. Myself, I'm a bit wary about doing anything to a common rail diesel as they are a bit like a prima donna at the wrong time of the month!

I think some of the claims are valid as it has had reviews by others who know their stuff. What it won't do is cure rattles, or diesel knock unless I am mistaken.

It will decarbonise the engine which helps the MPG and emissions.

Would it help clean out the EGR and EGR cooler etc?

putting 2 stroke oil in a diesel has been proven to be worthless.

I am always sceptical about these snake oil remedies. If there were a definite benefit, why wouldn't the oil companies put it in as standard?

For things like 2 stroke (if it did actually help) they wouldn't encourage it as it would have negative effects on emissions I'd imagine.

Terra clean does actually have some science behind it though which is actually making me consider it!

I thought that too, Andrew, but the tiny amounts that the enthusiasts recommend would not be very polluting surely? I don't do it in my diesel not least because of scepticism, but also because of the known sensitivity of modern diesels to anything foreign in the fuel. It goes pretty well so leave it alone!

EGR's really get caked up in soot and carbon gunk, Terraclean is not going to shift it on it's own, same goes for other turbo cleaning liquids.      The only way is to remove the  EGR and scrape it clean and most cases they are easy to get too.

Doesn'd Ed China have a vested interest in Terraclean? Read into that what you will.

Terraclean is not used for fault finding it's for cleaning  your fuel system.but if your car is running as it should and is serviced well then why would it need cleaning ?

This stuff treats symptoms but does not really cure faults. only thing that I can see it helping with is if you had a bad spray pattern on an injector.

If it's things like EGR valves DPF's or coked up manifolds then it's best finding out what's causing the fault and then using the Terraclean after it's fixed to clean up the mess

I've used a product called BG244 quite a few times now. It does reduce diesel knock especially the knock noticeable on idle which you tend to get when the injectors are not giving a nice spray pattern. It cleans out the fuel system and improves the fuel economy and general responsiveness of the engine.

There's a few people that say it's snake oil but they seem to be the ones that like to play with spanners. Personally I hate working on modern diesels, especially the daily runaround.

How much is terraclean?
