Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Meet at 10 am in the public car park/toilets between Matlock and Matlock Bath, just by the speed camera (40mph). Cromford Steam Rally is only a short distance from there. The entrance fee is £10 each. Extra to steamy things there will be vintage cars, tractors, heavy haulage, bikes and buses along with craft stalls, models, organs and much more. I have requested that we display our cars and have been declined because it is too short notice but not to worry because last year we made our own mini car show in the adjoining field. Martyn, don't fear the toilet situation, just bring the naked witches from Tamworth, they will offer a good level of protection. Weather's forecast good so who is coming? Quote
OrmusKnight Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Would love to but i'm off doing a grand tour of Asian casino's for a few weeks, So I'll meet up with you all sometime in September. Have fun. Sean. Quote
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'll round up the naked witches then Julie What time are we meeting? Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Sorry Mart, I now think you are telepathic and know that it is 10am, I will edit my post before you get a spell put on me. Quote
dhutch Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Made plans for the day but would otherwise be well up for it. Daniel Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 After the Steam Rally if people want to go for a run out I am going to take the A6 through Bakewell and then Buxton. The big road for a change, although it is still a nice twisty one, and also I feel a pose or two coming on. Then I will take the B roads back down through the Peak District to finish in the beer garden at Bentley Brook. I will avoid Matlock Bath though because it will just be a car park on a sunny Sunday afternoon. That's the plan anyway, but lets face it anything could happen Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 We met in Matlock, Tricky came to show his suntan off after his holiday and Martyn and Sue came. I was a bit niffed because I had forgot my camera, but Martyn quickly stepped in and offered to be cameraman for the day with his phone. Tricky just gave me a wicked, devilish look and offered to take some photo's too, and yes I am worried! A few weeks ago I introduced the new Monster Minion on Tricky's car, well today I can introduce the Monster Twinion. I got a bit jealous and had to have one too, so look out for them. Matlock Martyn having an artistic moment. Can you spot the Monster Twinion? Then we took the short journey to the Steam Rally..... 2 Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 We got there and made a little car show of our own It is a very good show with lots of Fred Dibnah moments, made better if you take an ex- lorry mechanic with you. Martyn was a walking history book and was full of good anecdotes. With so much to see it was 2pm, we had not even got round to the classic cars, when Bioman rang to check where we were. Him and Liz had managed to squeeze a spare couple of hours so we arranged to meet them at 3 pm in Bakewell. Steam moments and car moments, a slightly! modified Mexico 2 Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Lovely pictures Julie. I love the steam fairs and going down to Dorset again this year for the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Do a search for Dr busker on youtube and listen to his steam fair music. Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 We picked up Bioman and took the big A6, posing through Bakewell centre and then Buxton centre. It is a nice road to drive but other traffic uses it and you just never seem to get going, so it served well to remind me why I like the back roads. We headed South and floored it, well it was national speed limit. Past Dragon's Back for the views, floored it through the one way traffic lights and then I had a thought. Checked it with hubby, got the OK, and headed for the tunnel. It was a 3 point turn and back through again. Tricky's new exhaust sounded AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME behind me. It so needed filming just for the sound, why oh why did I forget my camera. Martyn was behind me on the way back through the tunnel and we passed a parked white van as we came out of the tunnel. He came flying out saying 'you get a Vann up your bottom' it was a few minutes before I worked out that he meant a Martyn Vann and not the parked white van I did say anything could happen today didn't I? excitement over we made our way through the alpine looking Ilam village to the Bentley Brook beer garden for a brew. What a laugh we have had, thank you to everyone for coming, especially Bioman for making it fit your day. 1 Quote
