Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Has anyone taken out this cover? and have you had to use it abroad, what was the service like? The reason I'm asking is when I renewed last week I was offered this cover and it sounds like a good deal at a good price. In August 6 of the Manchester boys are heading across the water for an 11 day trip to mainland Europe and I was thinking, will this cover be good enough? Ta Paul Quote
pistonbroke Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Never used it , but when I renewed I got the option of EU or UK only , I opted for UK as little chance of me going abroad in the Westy and the price seamed very reasonable , I was told I could extend to EU anytime for a "few quid extra " (£20? forgot the exact amount ) . No reason to think Aplan are better or worse than any other breakdown policy , but the thing to check would be what happens if say the engine blows up ! Some policies will take the car to the nearest garage were it would be repaired at your expence and may pay for overnight hotel etc. I assume you would want the car and self repatriated to the UK if the worst happened . KugaWestie Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I have it. I used it recently in the UK with no problems at all Quote

Yep that's my main concern. I have used another policy when I've gone abroad with the caravan, and that covers just about any eventuality, but it costs a lot more £s Quote
BudSlater Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I have it. I used it recently in the UK with no problems at all Me too. They took a verbal description of the problem to help work out how to get it back and just loaded it onto a trailer and took me home with no questions asked Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks for the replies so far guys keep em' coming I would have no problem relying on it in the UK, it's the Europe bit i'm concerned about. Quote
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Ask them to send you a copy of the policy document. Quote
Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Paul, I'me with A-Plan for the Euro cover you need to let them know when you are going as well, I'll be giving them a ring soon to make sure it covers repatriation for car and driver/passenger if car cannot be fixed... it did last time (The Alsatian Tour ) Marcus Quote
