It's a Peugeot 206 1998-2000 plate and is at her home address. They do not have a spare key. What is the best course of action?
Andy (Sycho)
Had a similar thing with a a mercedes van with a snapped key, I just phoned local mercedes dealer gave them reg/chassis number. They then ordered the key, then someone came out to program the key. It wasn't cheap though, had to pay for the key & the bloke to program it. Rory's Dad
Dunno about a replacement key but I know what I do with my children, wife and myself. despite looking everywhere for them. #1 No they haven't #2 Looking in all the places that answer "No they can't be there!" #3 (and no, I'm not religous) Recite "Holy St Anthony, Blessed St Ann, help me to find them as fast as you can" Never fails

Captain Colonial
Once the key is found / made...make a spare one and put it somewhere safe and memorable!!!
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
I cant help on the keys thingy, BUT, there's a lesson here. Never ever buy a second hand car with only one key, when they are new they are always supplied with two keys, for a reason.
1pearman
A mobile auto locksmith will be able to get into the car, and reprogram you a new key (and spare if required). When we had our 2009 Clio done it was about £100 for 1 key. Just google for a local one who does call outs.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Yeah, welcome to the world of how terrifyingly easy it is for someone to get in without actually damaging anything! I managed to drop the key fob inside my old Audi A6 while loading up one morning, went to get another couple of boxes, find not only has the door blown shut behind me, but since I hadn't started the engine after unlocking the car, it's auto locked again. Unfortunately, the lease company always retained the second key. It was supposed to have shielded deadlocks, blah, blah, blah. The locksmith that i called out was in before I could ask him if he wanted sugar in his brew. To be fair, he did say the process would have taken a bit longer if there had been alarms and immobiliser to sort out, but as you could see the key fob on the floor from outside, he just picked that up and disarmed the car that way. Still scary quick though.

Arm
Make sure its a replacement key and reprogrammed transponder. Data might be in the owners manual or local dealer may supply .

SootySport
it'll be the thick end of £150 I'm afraid. There are quiet a few car key companies that specialise in remote keys these days, Google them.. The friend should have a security card with the key number and vin on it, inside the handbook wallet.
