Tim Reid Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Fancy a quick release without the hassle of getting one welding correctly to your car? Or want to option to swap back? ...I have an SPA Designs quick release which has been professionally welded to an Allegro based steering column. They machined the parts for a tight fit, then drilled a hole across the column, inserted a rod, then welded the whole thing up… a belt and braces approach but gives a super strong connection. This was done about 1 year ago so is in very good condition. I have recently has the opportunity to further upgrade to a Works Bell QR (spin lock) so I’m offering my SPA Designs quick release and upper inner column for sale. The SPA Design quick release cost £135 The inner steering column cost £70 (I recently bought the last one from Westfield factory) The welding work cost me £30 plus the running around to a special engineering shop. I'm looking for £135. I will be at Stoneleigh on the Sunday or can arrange postage. Quick release PCD 50.8, three bolt pattern. You can also buy adaptors to fit most other bolt patterns. Fitting is quick and easy... 1 bolt on the UJ in the engine bay, slide the inner column out, slide new one in and transfer steering wheel.
msisleman Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 If you can wait till after my iva (hopefully in 4-6 weeks) i could swap my column and brand new spa spline that's never been welded onto a column? Might benefit you by being able to sell the qr and column separately? And it'd save me welding mine on. Just a thought.
Tim Reid Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 Thanks for the offer but its now SOLD subject to payment.
