Best way to remove melted rubber from tyres

I have some erm   , slightly used tyres from a track day last season, only second outing but got a bit warm! I never did get round to sorting out the melted rubber. What's the best way? A few burn outs' or its there a better method. Do I assume I need to re balance the wheels after? Thanks

Are you sure its melted rubber rather than pick up?

Some road driving will get rid of it, but unless they are sprint tyres I wouldn't bother :)

I think it maybe pick up as you say, but maybe a little bit of melt. So driving should clear it. They are A048R mediums, they are my track tyres as I have other tyres/wheels for the road, but are road legal. So just a bit of driving, and maybe a 'lil' tyre slip should get shot. Just don't want them to be out of balance.

There's a term like "thermal surface failure" normally known as bad graining which is a rippling or ridging effect.  If its bad enough to need removing, a light surforming should do the trick.  Works for pick up too.

Surely it should be kept and displayed like a badge of honour ;)

I have a fair bit of melted rubber on my front r888s at the moment. An 80 mile blat today didn't remove it fully either. I wouldn't let it worry you too much
