Markfry123 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Hi all Will be looking to sell my old Xflow soon, complete engine, was a really good 711M at 1700cc solid bottom end with 234 Cam. Has picked up a score on 2 of the bores. Full westfield exhaust, starter, alternator, basically everthing except twin 40's as putting these on my Zetec. I will list on parts for sale thread, but what sort of money are they worth. Mark Quote
Quinten Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 £2.50 and I'll do you a favour and collect it Quote
B.RAD Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Not a lot with scores in the bores, most people who want a block these days are FF racers who need 1600 blocks. Having just sold a whole load of crossflow stuff (think my for sale ad is still in the parts for sale section somewhere) my opinion would be to take it apart and sell as components. I know it's more hassle but if it's a return you're after, that's the only way you'll get it. Don't know what your experience is of the crossflow but you can have that apart and cleaned for sale in a couple of hours. Here's my estimates (not including the head, pistons, conrods, crank, sump or any of the timing gear as you don't mention what they are, but could be worth a bit on their own if the spec is good) Full engine £2-300 if you can find a buyer for a used crossflow Block £50 Cam £50 Alternator £20 Ancillaries (water pump, oil pump, fuel pump etc) £5 - £10 each Starter £20 Exhaust system £200 Hope that helps, you may have better success on locostbuilders as there is more of a market for crossflow goodies there, most owners on here have either good spec crossflows already or have done the transplant as you are. Hope the helps, apologies if it seems negative as that's not the purpose, just giving a steer from my recent experience. Best of luck with the sale! Quote
Markfry123 Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Many thanks, All info welcome, however I will give the tall Dutch bloke's £2.50 a miss, think he has been out in the sun. As you say will strip and sell, even if if just covers a few hundred on the conversion. Mark 2 Quote
alexander72 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Apparently a well sorted steel cross flow was on offer for £4500 last week - 1700, 711M, twon 40's 244 Cam and so on..... for export to EU Quote
Pistol Pete Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Having done the same, I found the big winners were: Complete Ignition system Lightened flywheel/clutch cover Alloy Cam Covers Brise Starter Caterham Shallow Sump & Pickup pipe Exhaust Manifold 244 Cam Roller Rockers Big Valve Race tuned head Quote
alexander72 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Mine might be for sale soon. Spec as above.... Quote
BillyPee Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I have a fairly stock Xflow engine that I am not intending on swapping out anytime soon, so I would be a a potential purchaser of post-able upgrade items, e.g. camshaft. The cost and logistics of shipping collecting an entire engine (where you might not even use the block) would probably limit your market to those local to you. You never know though, there are plenty of people like me that would enjoy stripping down a Xflow just for the entertainment value Quote
jeff oakley Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 X flow stuff sells well still to the "old skool Ford" guy's but you need to get on the right boards first. As always it is worth what someone wants to pay on that day. Ebay can still work for bits Quote
