shrops-paul
Hello. Newbie question Can I wash & polish a Westfield as I would a normal car? I.e. Car wash shampoo and polish. I tend to use meguires. Also, is there any reason a Westfield couldn't be wrapped if I wanted to change the colour at some point? Red is fine for now but I may want a change
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup)
Hello. If you go through the post from a couple of days ago there is a nice picture of a fully wrapped westfield
6carjon
Hi Paul. Yes wash and polish as normal for any car. Gel coat is very forgiving. Treat all exposed metal well as any rust here really makes the car look tatty. Treat chips and scratches quickly as required. For uncoated metal that can rust ie trackrods try acf50 works a treat. Mooch
Thanks. I'll probably be a PITA for a few weeks with all my questions There are no daft questions, only stuff you don't know, but do a search first because most topics will have had an airing at some point in the past. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Also answers change and develop over the years as new products and technologies come along, different ways of doing things are thought up, even just new members with different experiences since the last time something was questioned can make a difference, and so on; please don't ever be afraid to ask! Kyle
As above you can treat it just like paint but it's much thicker and usually harder. Wash with the two bucket method, polish to satisfaction but don't forget to wax or seal. Megs ultimate quick detailer is very good for an off the shelf product, best I've used for the money in fact and I've used a few. However it's only really a top-up or extra layer for a proper more durable wax or sealant.

Lyonspride
Wash as a normal car, might also be worth getting some fibrglass/gelcoat specific stuff for removing oxidation that occurs as these cars age. I use Mer polish after cleaning, as this used to be very popular with bikers for use on GRP fairing. It also goes on wet, which is a massive bonus. I'm going to be trying some 3m cleaner+wax (for boats) on one of my cycle wings, as it's either a different batch to the rest of the car, or it was damaged/replaced at some point. Which brings me onto wrapping, if I can't get a good match with the above, then i'm going to start looking at either carbon wrap or new black/carbon cycle wings. I've heard the Westfield curves can be very hard to wrap though.

If you get someone with experience they will do it no trouble, the lad that wrapped mine did the nose cone which is much more complicated than any arch
