Just graphed my times and points for all the races i've competed in and the graph is going up!!!

 

Also suggests crofts time might be a bit more achievable time for me

That's a great example for anyone who fancies competing, it's not always about winning your class etc, it's about your sense of achievement when you see you are getting better. Then just building on that, it's part natural ability and part learned.
