Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I've worn out drills over the years with use, but never had one burn out in a cloud of smoke before! (A Makita at that) Looks like it's the old DeWalt with the knackered batteries for the rest of the weekend.

dombanks
Can you just buy a new drill head?
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I need to check whether it's the motor itself that's burnt out, or just brushes etc. Makita's aren't usually too bad for spares availability, just depends on how big a part it is, as to whether it's worth repairing, I guess. Kit Car Electronics
All of my favourite tools are Makita - I'm addicted to blue plastic I think ;-)
Nemesis
I think Screwfix carry a good range of spares.......
Stu Faulkner
A lot of battery drills these days are going to brushless motors. Last longer but nothing to repair if they go pop.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Brushes have disintegrated; looks like a replacement motor assy. needed.
Stu Faulkner
Might not be too bad then. Some drills can be bought 'Naked' IE without batteries. It doesn't always work out cheaper to repair.
