hawksa
After receiving lots of advice that a compressor and rivet gun would be good investments, do you have any recommendations? I will be building my kit in a single garage and something big enough - but not too big - would be ideal. Simon.
BobMet
A Clarke Warrior 25 litre compressor (can't remember the spec or model) and a Clarke air riverter worked well for me. All from Machinemart. An air gun for blowing away dust and debris proved handy too.
Kingster
I picked up a 2nd hand 3hp belt drive abac with a 100l cylinder. More than up to the task and cost less than a new lower powered job. Fits under my work bench too.

Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
I'm happy with my recent purchase. http://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-8216035scr011-24ltr-compressor-with-5-piece-accessory-kit-240v/48089 I'm yet to decide on an air riveter though. Lyonspride
Can't vouch for them actually being any good, but: http://www.sgs-engineering.com/air-compressors Somewhere in China a large factory kicks out millions of these things, then various well known brands buy them up and rebrand them. The above are identical to a number of the well known brands..... But like I say, I cannot vouch for the quality.
tisme
I have the 24L SGS compressor and tool kit http://www.sgs-engineering.com/air-compressors/24-litre and I'm very pleased with it - it looks and feels well made. I know many of them appear the same but you can spot the poorer quality "copies" when you see them in the flesh. Machine Mart (Clarke) are pretty good and if you have a local store, pop along and check them out. I think 24L is enough for me (and the garage space) but do check the HP and CFM - mine has 2.5HP and 9.6CFM air flow which is enough for just about everything "home mechanic" without the compressor always cutting in or struggling to keep up with things like air drills or grinders.
