Playskool MSA roll bar & boot box

Recommended Posts

I've fitted a Playskool MSA roll bar, I'm wanting to keep the boot box but I'm scratching my head

The RAC roll bar obviously has detachable diagonal bars, which makes modifying the boot box an easier job, but the Playskool bar has welded diagnals

Has anyone managed to modify the boot box when having a Playskool MSA bar fitted ?

Couldn't you (and I dont have the bar to hand, but looking at getting the AA Composites box in the future)

(1) measure for the holes in the bootbox (i.e. fit the roll bar without a boot box or panel in place)

(2) cut those holes and slide the boot box onto the roll bar (off the car)

(3) fit the roll bar and boot box as a single unit onto the car - if the hole is out at this point, you could test and adjust and add a rubber U-bend to cover up what lies beneath

The only issue I can foresee is doing the underside bolts up on the roll bar. Hence I am thinking the AA-Compoisites narrow boot box (removable in situ) would overcome this.

I modified my bootbox to the point of destruction! then made a bespoke ally bootbox to fit between the rear diagonals, lifts out for easy access to diff/suspension from top  :d

I have a single sheet of wrapped ali. I don't see the point in making life difficult so made bigger than normal holes so it slides up the legs if I need to get to the fuel tank etc.

As the legs are fixed and splayed they sat awkwardly in the chassis mounts I ratchet strapped them into the bolted position and packed them out which you may also need to do. Only do it a small amount tho.

I think you would need to cut the boot box in half,

It's in a manual I got but it's the fw box but the same idea.
