CrisisWolf
Hi I bought some new wheels and as part of the package it came with R888s in 205/50/15 which I do not need - I do a handful of track days a year and the rest is road driving so thought these could go to a better home. They are brand new - having been removed from the wheels they were supplied with. The tyres as unused, its just had the stickers removed. Collection from Bristol. £375. They are £110+ each typically so get them for less than £95 a corner. Available for collection now. Can investigate postage. Mine new tyres were shipped just with white retaining straps around so I guess it is possible.
wackydo
Hi Rich, I'm very interested, what does the GG mean, is this the softest compound? I'm presuming I could probably fit these onto the same rims as would take 195-50-15s And no postage needed either!! Tony
wackydo
Ok GG seems to be medium soft, which seems ok. These are recently dated I presume.
SootySport
GG is medium, the softer one is SG and they'll wear out tooooo quick. 7" rims are the optimum width for our cars with these tyres.
wackydo
Mmmmm, do you think they might fit ok on 6.5" rims??
Tom Frankland (T3OMF)
What's the date stamp on them Chris
CrisisWolf
Think my rims are 6.5. I did google what tyres fot on what rims and found upto 215 was okay with 195 and 205 being in the middle/ideal range from memory. Havent checked for the date but will do later. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Toyo have a handy checker for their tyre sizes, here According to that, 6.5" is the optimum width for the 205/50 15 R888's, but they'll fit from 5 1/2" to 7 1/2" hubs. R888's have a really stiff sidewall, so can be a right devil of a job to fit If you try and go to the limits of wheel size for a given tyre size, but 6 1/2" is spot on, (7" is fine too). CrisisWolf
Haha. I had the same problem about September time. Expensive month for upgrades.
CrisisWolf
FYI - manufactured Week 26 of 2014 so June 2014. Only checked the one but I doubt they will vary by much so assume all 2014.
