Steve M Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Hello all Bought a 2nd hand momo team steering wheel from EBAY, turned up this morning From my knowledge though, I thougtt that the stamp on the back of the right hand side was usually engraved & date stamped This one has a painted stamp on the reverse of the bottom spoke, but no date stamp The quality of the wheel does look to be very good, but this printed rather than engraved stamp has got me thinking ? Murraymint Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Steve, Looks the same wheel as mine, however my one is engraved & date stamped…. Quote
Steve M Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Thanks Are your engravings on the bottom spoke as mine or on the right hand spoke as you look from the back ? Quote
Murraymint Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Mine is the right hand spoke as you look from the back... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Looks like mine, bottom spoke, I wouldn't call it engraved, though there is a slight texture to the printing. Came from a reputable source, and am confident it's genuine. Quote
tisme Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Compared to the picture on Momo's website it looks pretty much like an original to me - why not contact Momo http://www.momo-uk.co.uk/momo-contact.htm with the details and ask (may be prudent to ask something innocent about the code or logo rather than just asking if it's a "fake" ). I would have thought if someone had gone to that length to produce a convincing copy, then engraving the name and codes wouldn't have stopped them? Does make you wonder though and I know many other genuine car parts have been copied - sometimes with never a problem, other times with disastrous results. I've seen a lot of spares now having sealed boxes with "hologram" seals (and probably still no real proof it's not a fake !!), but that's obviously difficult on second hand stuff . Quote
Plays-Kool Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 No that's fine, tally's up exactly with what I've got here and the one purchased here is a brand new one from Momo UK and had just come in from Italy. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Mine too, I know the source and I know it was part of a recently received order from Momo in Italy Quote
Steve M Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Thanks for the replies chaps It's apreciated Quote
