Westfield Collection Process

The ten weeks of waiting since I placed my order came to an end on Wednesday when I picked up my Special Edition kit!

Have to say for a lifelong wizened old cynic I was highly impressed with the professionalism and efficiency  the Westfield staff exhibited without sacrificing anything of the enthusiasm and friendliness experienced at the recent open day. Chris, Hanna and Kyle, the three I mostly dealt with on Wednesday, deserve special mention as they explained the process, helped to pack the Van and then patiently went through the paperwork.

Included in the paperwork  was a detailed Bill of Material, broken down by sub-section which additionally identified which part was in which - of the many!  -  boxes; wasn't expecting that but know just how useful it is going to be.

Yes, there were a few missing parts, but really not that many and none that will impact the initial stages of the build;  in fact I got an email from Hanna on the Thursday telling me some of the parts were already being FedEx’d and should arrive on Friday, which they did.

Think many of us are quick to criticise when things go wrong, and I’m as guilty of that as anyone, but conversely we should give praise where praise is due and think Westfield deserve a big pat on the back for the way the whole collection process was handled.

Now I’ve just got to assemble it, doubtless upgrading along the way which I’m sure at some point will invoke WBT#16.

Cheers

John.

Jedi, congratulation on picking up your kit and starting the build - enjoy it and don't wait until you've finished the build to get along to your local WSCC meeting

Get stuck in John with that build and start a Build thread of your own.

Congratulations John, looking forward to hearing more about the build as you progress!

The collection process was always good, I remember my first, back in early 2004 fondly. It's got slicker and slicker over the years. Collecting my last kit, at the tale end of last year was just like yours, a really smooth process.

The funny thing is, it's the little details that stick in my mind, like one of the lads casually mentioning, oh pull your van up to there, then reverse into here, then you can swing into the loading bay. Seemed an odd way to manoeuvre at first, but was so much easier to get a big Luton bodied van into the bay, in a smallish area.

As you say, the pick lists are really handy. Likewise I had a couple of items outstanding, but all sorted out eventually.

i know it's sad, but that feeling driving home with the loaded up van is fantastic, and really hard to explain to anyone else. Specially the moment when you get home and open the van doors again and see lots of boxes and pieces of car. Feels like driving Santas sledge, except it's all for you!  :d

Jedm,

Pleased to hear that the collection process all went well. Will you be posting a build log and don't forget to store the fibreglass bits in a manner which will ensure they stay in shape and not relax as sometimes happens, but it is reversible as per Daves recent warming of the Cheshire atmosphere.
