The WSCC wisdom needed...

I want to buy one for a birthday present, but have never really looked that closely at them - and there seem to be huge numbers around.

I'm lost frankly! Does anyone have any recomendations that they've found work well?

Mains powered is fine, it's ideally got to look reasonably like a picture frame, so no USB sticks hanging out. Ideally I want something I can pre-load, either to a memory card or via wi-fi.

It really needs to be more or less always on - timer or at a pinch motion detection would be OK, but anything needing user input is useless.

Likewise, it just needs to play a continual slide show without interruption and if it should be unplugged, start straight back up again without user intervention!

Budget £50 ~ £100

Thanks

My wife just bought a Bush DPF110 10" frame from Argos. £54.99. Decent digital frame for the price

I've been through a few, and tbh, they all have their flaws (such a shame).  Most of them look like a cheap Chinese plastic fabricated frame, and inevitably have a very low resolution or the processing power that was maybe suitable back in the 60s.  My best experience was with a Philips frame, which did exactly what you described above, but unfortunately failed twice within the warranty period, which is a bit too high for my liking.  My (non-technical) mum now has a Motorola frame which I've given instructions with on how to reboot the damn thing, as once it is stuck, it will not continue or respond to key presses...

IME, many TVs now have a USB port and you can turn the telly into a digital picture frame at a better resolution and size.  Worth considering and checking. :t-up:

Too complicated unfortunately!

(The use of any TV guide other than in the paper is beyond them. But the relative is 89 years old!)

We were given an Aldi one couple of years ago, cheap as chips.

It looks OK and works absolutely fine, on all the time and starts up when it detects movement. Resolution pretty good too. I reduced the size of larger photos so that it ran smoothly.

Having a look at the suggestions, thanks guys....

Dave, Just bought Father in Law a Sony DPF D80 (8 inch) one, we have the 10 inch one and its worked flawlessly for the last 3 years. Lots of features like timed auto on-off and will take a variety of cards in addition to internal memory.

We've got over 5000 holiday snaps on it and its nowhere near full.

Well recommended although not cheap...!
