CraigHew Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Just took delivery of 4 brand new 205/50 R15 R1Rs today from Paul at BMTR. They bought up the remaining stock from Toyo once these "G" rated tyres became discontinued (The Eurocrats want everyone to use more fuel efficient tyres it seems). I think the price was great £50 per corner plus VAT. (that's £60 each if you're from Essex). Although I'm far from needing new rubber I thought I'd wrap them up well and put these away in my garage rafters until they're needed, when of course they would have been unobtainable. Paul still has a few left, but I think it's single figures.....! Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Are these softer than the T1r ? Sure are. Quote

Kezman Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Thanks for the heads up....if you google the T1R, to which I've currently got, you get that the tyre was discontinued in 2012, but evidently is still widely available...I will admit though, the R1R seems harder to locate! I personally always saw myself swapping to R1R's when my T's give up as they seem to be in the middle of the R888's and the T1R for performance/price?wear rate etc... I might try my best like you Craig and try and locate, 4x R1R 205/50/15 and store for later. If this doesn't happen, what is the options now to replicate the R1R? What is the R1R's direct replacement? Quote
CraigHew Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Ring BMTR and ask for Paul....! Quote
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Got my self a set from BMTR as well. 195s for the front (probably the last available) and 205s for the rear. Top quality services, they put them on one side of a couple of weeks as I was busy with work and could not collect. Now sitting in the garage ready for when I want to use them. Quote
