lewis Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I need to order an exhaust for my Mazda build soon but don't really want to spend £568 on their CAT exhaust. I'd rather get a new non CAT exhaust from them and buy/borrow a CAT exhaust for when it comes time to get my IVA (hopefully around March next year). Does anyone have a CAT exhaust they no longer need?
TableLeg Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 They are not expensive on ebay. Ideal for little use.
lewis Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Will have another look How can you tell the difference between a CAT and non CAT exhaust?
kevip6 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I have one you'd be welcome to borrow but it's from a standard westfield zetec exhaust setup, so i;m not sure if the Mazda one is different?
TableLeg Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 If you type 'catalytic converter' into the search option on EBay you'll see standalone types that can be welded into a system or have flanges welded to them or several regular car ones which you may find you could easily and cheaply adapt.
lewis Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Would this fit on to my Mazda build? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/westfield-exhaust-/231355437823?
Mark (smokey mow) Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I thought your donor was a 1994 Eunos? That being the case get an engine dating letter from Mazda UK and with the age of your engine you wont then have to do the CAT emissions test at IVA.
lewis Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Yeah it is. I've been looking in the IVA manual again. And I think this is my emissions path: So my only question is, will that exhaust on ebay linked above be suitable?
KugaWestie Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I thought your donor was a 1994 Eunos? That being the case get an engine dating letter from Mazda UK and with the age of your engine you wont then have to do the CAT emissions test at IVA. ^^ This All I had to do was provide the original donor logbook at IVA and prove the engine by engine nuber. No CAT on my exhaust. CO 3.5% and HC 1200 ppm But a failsafe way is the Mazda letter
KugaWestie Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Yeah it is. I've been looking in the IVA manual again. And I think this is my emissions path: Spot on Lewis, you wont need a CAT in your silencer to pass that
