I believe you are right there , would certainly be worth a shout , Steve's having a clearout quietly so would be worth a call / email / pm .

I have 2. Will call you in a bit

Cheers Dave, Julian - I'll give Steve a call tomorrow.  Already raided his collection once!

Thanks also Phil, it's an english alloy casing (live axle) that I need - if you've got one, let me know.

If anyone else happens to have one kicking about that they would like to see put to good use, please let me know!

Cheers :d

i still can't believe you sold the mighty cross flow BCF…..  I'm in mourning and having counselling  :p

You and me both! It's all gone now, even the engine mounts :cry:  They went to a good home though, along with the twin carbs, hi-torque starter and exhaust manifold.  They'll be showing the Nurburgring how a real mighty motor goes in a couple of weeks!!!

Gone but not forgotten

I'm sure I'll be back in something crossflow powered again one day, but for now I'm ploughing on with the awesome XE

Back on topic, it's one of these I need please:

Theres a new one on ebay

Expensive though !!

Posted

Thanks Steve, yeah I've seen that one, the seller is off their rocker. Burton sell them for £390, so for eBay to be more expensive means there's a problem!

Cheapest (new) I've found is £290 + vat, which is a lot of money. Still searching so if anyone has something, please let me know.

Bump - can anyone please help me out before I have to shell out (and die a bit inside) for a new one?

Whats wrong with your current one

Or is it cast and your shedding weight ?

Posted

Yep, pure weight saving I'm afraid, there's a good 5kg difference in them. I'm aiming to only have to do this once (hah!) so hence doing it now.

Posted

5 kg of strength maybe ?

Posted

Yep that's a possibility Mike, but I think those are pretty well quashed rumours now. The current ones are made from pretty robust alloy so fingers crossed that won't be a problem.
