Rory's Dad
Popped into Halfords this morning to get yet another front number plate and saw 1200 x1800(?) pack of rubber(?) floor tiles for a tenner. £20 to do most of your garage floor seems like good value to me. Lyonspride
"as well as absorbing the shock associated with working on concrete" What?? OMG, IT'S CONCRETE!!!! PANIC!!!! The only shock i'm experiencing is Halfrauds actually being cheaper than Ebay!
ralphy
I have these in my work-shed, be aware that they expand a LOT in direct sunlight/heat so don’t fit them wall to wall, other than that they are a good flooring - especially so for kneeling on. carbon-nv
Just picked some of these up. Good value for what they are, but they are quite a lightweight foam so might not be too hard-wearing Good for a picnic, if nothing else!
BudSlater
Got me some of these, thanks for the heads up. Well worth a tenner a pack, even just for the insulating properties haha
dhutch
Like it, dead common in cafe's and the like in ski resorts.
TAFKARM
Because they are quite light foam, do they get chewed up when you park the car on them? I'm thinking about these but might just go for carpet again...
dave_t
Mine are just very squashed, at the four tyre points. The car always ends up in the same place though - as it rolls into the indents!
TAFKARM
And are they ok if you jack the car up on them Dave?
dombanks
i would have thought stable matting would be a good idea for where the car is? not too expensive and can take a hell of a beating. but a good price for those, i saw them when i was in the other day
peterg
And are they ok if you jack the car up on them Dave? I bought a load of these (4 packs) for my garage as I work on motorbikes in there and it's much nicer to kneel on them rather than concrete. However, where the centrestands are I put a small sheet of plywood down so they can't dig in. I would suggest doing the same for jacks and axle stands, or, maybe remove the tiles where the jack / axle stands are and replace when finished, dead easy to do. dave_t
As above, I usually just remove one of the tiles and jack from there. They pull out and replace very easily. And are quite comfortable to kneel/ lie on when working on the car .... certainly, much more so that the concrete floor
pcarmour
Covered my garage with these and the overall result is very good, looks great, comfortable to walk, kneel or lie on. HOWEVER they expand in the heat and bulge up and apart from the dents from my cars tyres they move as I ‘slowly’ drive’ off or on. I will use some adhesive to stop this which is not what I wanted to have to do. Hopefully that will solve the issues. Peter.
