Terry Everall Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I have had my Mac for about 3 years and initially had Libre Office installed to deal with text docs and spreadsheets ( instead of Word and Excel) Now it seems to be casing major problems and not reading doc or allowing me to change them I tried deleting original version and installed latest Libre office but it does not seem right. Kingster Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Oh I dunno Nick, my Apple has been way more reliable and happy compared to any PC I've ever had. But my gen 1 iPad is now pretty slow and won't run much - ok for sofa bound surfing though - so maybe iOS is a bit like that, but OSX is very good. +1 on the Android though - can't beat it for a smartphone (IMHO). corsechris Posted August 27, 2014 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Was going to say...drag it into the applications folder and authorise when it prompts then it'll be fine but it sounds like you've cracked it. Not wanting to get into the whole 'mine's better than yours thing' of course, but I too have found an iMac far better for home use than the array of assorted PCs I had over the years. I still run Windows XP in a virtual machine on it to support one specific program though. I'm sure there are Mac native alternatives, but when I went Apple, I had a few XP only apps that I needed to keep and at the tmie, emulation seemed the best way. Have to say, it works brilliantly. On the occasions an update has bricked Windows, it takes seconds to restore to a previous image and try again. There's also an element of preference as well. Some folk love Android for it's freedom, for me, that's probably about the worst aspect of it. I don't doubt I would probably feel quite different if I was 20 years younger. At work I mostly look after Windows based stuff, but we do have a number of FCP workstations etc on Mac so I'm familiar with both. Certainly no fan-boy or hater of either.
