dombanks Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 bad luck comes in 3s ... isn't it? now you've had yours you should be ok.... is the damaged tyre against a wall or hidden with the way you park it? maybe its just me with a big vindictive streak but if i had a grudge to the point of doing stuff like this i wouldn't be going at the inside wall of a single tire. hopefully its just a bad luck. worth having a good look about your drive and on the road outside your house for nails etc tho just incase some one has chucked a load of them down trying to get you or anyone who happens by Quote
iain m Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I have not had a puncture for decades, took the Merc in for a major service at 15K, they found a nail in a rear tyre, drove back the 20 miles to our local tyre specialist he found a nail in the other rear, 2 new tyres at 15k, expensive day, I think s**t just happens some days. Quote
stephenh Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I'm thinking that it hasn't happened in your driveway, that is just where the tyre goes flat, because the car is standing over night. The tip you mention is the more likely cause. I need salt tablets for my water softener. Usually my local builders merchant delivers it for me, but over the years I've been and collected it from their yard several times. Twice, after driving my car through to the back of the builders yard, a day or two later I've found a screw or nail in a tyre. Quote

Dibby Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Before you spend a lot on CCTV ... You can use an old USB webcam (approx £5 off ebay) and free software like iSpy to form a basic CCTV system, you already have a computer (to post here). I've got an old webcam lying about I could post to you as a freebie if you want I have one in the garage keeping an eye on the car - it records automatically on motion detection, uploads straight to the net so even if they nick the camera and computer it's on the net waiting to be downloaded, remote viewing through your phone, all for a fiver. Hundreds of video clips of me tinkering with something or other in the garage but if it gets broken into it's something to pass on to the police ... or if I recognise them, pay them a visit with some rope, a blow torch, a leather apron, a bag of lime and a shovel...! I have allready come to that conclusion Stephen, It's just that when you wake for a pee in the middle of the night , and then cant get back to sleep your mind starts working overtime, with allsorts of crap going through it Anyway tyre dealer looked at it and yes the bad luck continues, it's unreparable so new tyre ordered and will be fitted tomorrow.
