What do you make of this?

In the past three months I've had three punctures, all in the same tyre, the first I just took the wheel/tyre in and they said it was in the sidewall and knackered, only 6500 miles and a new tyre :(

The second one I found a screw in the sidewall, tyre knackered, only 1500 miles and another new tyre :(  :(

Today I've just discovered another flat tyre this time a nail in the sidewall, :(  :(  :(

I havent taken it in yet to see if it can be repaired, but think about this, it's the same tyre everytime and at home ???

I really dont know what to think, I'm sure I've not upset anyone, but my house kind of stands out a bit on our road, and sometimes you hear about people that can get a bit jealous, but surely not like this, I've lived here 10 years and we've never had any bother with anyone, we just keep ourselved to ourselves, like I said I really dont know what to think, I hope I'm not getting paranoid  ???

Where is the car parked? It does sound odd but stranger things have happened.

We had issues like this at work.

If someone is putting things in your tyres make sure you check the inner wall as well.

They got my boss and a couple of my site managers and the clients motorbike.

They did both sides of the tyres.

It does seem a bit coincidental, is it possible to rig up a security camera?

It's on the drive, probably 8 metres up from the pavement, but there's no gates, that's a job on the backburner.

The first thing I said to the wife was, that's it I'm getting cctv installed.

Can anyone recommend a reasonable diy set up?

Unlucky,

why settle at one tire ? Why not key the car? Why just one of you cars (if more than one out) why just stop at the cars and not something else about the house.

I'd be checking everywhere you go. Is there a place you only went to the those times? Where you could pick it up?

If expect other stuff than a nail in a tire every few months

Get some broken glass and dog dirt and mix them together.

Smear it behind the tyre.

When they grip the tyre to push the nails in they get cuts from the glass and then infection from the dog dirt.

Before you spend a lot on CCTV an old trick from back in the day was not to wash the car.

If somebody was putting anything in the wheel arch they would always put their hand on the wing and leave a hand print.

But from what you describe it does sound like something is going on. Hope it isn't...

I aint had a puncture in years, until this, but 2 tyres at £140 a pop is a bit much for a poor pensioner!

Especially when the cars only just done 10,000 miles, and now potentially a third new tyre.

Maybe my tyres are just making up for lost time.

A cheap option is if you have an old laptop, buy a webcam and set it up for time lapse recording.

This ^^ is what I do.

Another idea is a remote PIR driveway alert, about £15 on Ebay. Pop it in a strategic location (above animal height) and wait to see what happens.

Three in quick succession is not a coincidence, especially in the sidewall.  Someone is at it.  Maybe you wouldn't want to do this but have you reported it the police? you never know there may be a spate of such happenings and one more report might tie it down to somebody.

Do you have security lights fitted? or if not could they be installed?

:suspect:

Try parking the car the other way round - if it happens again to the opposite tyre then it's something happening on your driveway.

There was a spate of it about 20 years ago in flint in the end the police got a bloke with the mental age of a child I think is the politically correct term now

Good job it was the police that caught him there were some very upset locals looking for the culprit

3 side wall punctures on the same wheel would get my thinking the vandalism route

It's not the far tyre from the door that's hidden from view is it?

As benedwards64 say park it the other way around

And a bit of fishing line tied to a dustbin lid balanced on something ;)

Try sleeping in it paul, I am sure it won't be the first time !

Off side front tyre, boys, after thinking this over most of last night, when I should have been sleeping

I've visited the local tip a few times in the last few days, I think thats probably where the answer lies.

It's just such a coincidence that it's the same tyre everytime ???

Maybe my good run of no punctures finally came to an end
