At £1800, i'd risk it...

Sounds ok to me, but then I do 1000 miles a week in my car, so always buy high mileage to start with as they are affordable and my adding mileage doesn't impact on their value.

Currently run a 2.0tdi Jetta of 2006 vintage, with 169,000 on its back, but got out of a Passat  of the same age with 278k...though I did kill this one, suffered massive engine failure, but still worth £1800 to the nice polish man who bought it via ebay....so £1800 for a car that runs is a bargain!!!!

Disposable motoring, its the only way to go in my world

Well managed to negotiate the price down so I have ordered the pipe and slippers and will be a third car so it won't be getting used every day, just felt it was to good to pass up on.

Just listen for a chuffing noise or if you can lift the top engine cover up and make sure there is no carbon deposits around any of the injectors

Common for the injector seat to leak and can lead to a new cylinder head in the worst cases

Otherwise pretty bulletproof if it has been looked after

Yes ,know about the injector seals they are ok on this car however the seals are very cheap but I think it takes about 2 hrs to change each injector seal !

Good job my best mate is a MB technician !

Given the number of galactic mileage Merc's I've been in as taxi's overseas, I can't see there will be much of an issue.
