SteveH Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 For sale NOW SOLD My six speed (plus reverse) sequential quaife box is up for grabs. It's an earlyish model, not sure of the actually age but I've had it for about four years I think, last rebuilt a couple of years ago. It's a dog engagement, semi helical setup so not noisy to use but good quick shifts. This is a type 9 replacement so subject to lengths etc should be an easy adaption for that box. AFAIK it's a 1:1 5th gear with overdrive 6th, I used to run it on a 3.9 diff but once I was on higher power it was topping out at about 125 at a lot of tracks so I moved to a 3.3. It's been run on Redline Lightweight Shockproof oil, lever has the crank on it so fits nicely in a seven. It's only being replaced because I'm upgrading the engine and the box isn't rated for the 350-400 brake that I'm hoping for but it's been handling the old 250 brake lump fine so would suit most zetec, dura, redtop etc This is the new and the old together - I'm looking for £2.500 please Steve H
DannyScarbro Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Hi Steve, I am potentially interested in the box for my Sigma engined westfield. However do want to make sure it would be right for the car. Can you please advise on whether it has a long 1st? And details the individual ratios? When was it last used? Any idea's of mileage on the box? Are there any signs of needing a rebuild anytime soon? How oftern are they surposed to be rebuilt? Sorry for all the querstions but Im sure you can appretiate I need to be sure that it is perfect with spending this sort of money. Many thanks Dan

SteveH Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 Hi Dan The box was last used a couple of weeks ago at Rockingham, I've had it in for at least two years since the last build so I guess it's done over 1000 miles, no idea of the total mileage TBH as I bought it 2nd hand originally. It still shifts now as well as it did when it was last built, better if anything, it used to be a bit fussy between 3rd-4th but seems better at engaging now, it always improves as it warms up but I understand that's pretty typical. I'm not sure on any recommended rebuild spec, I had it done a couple of times not long after I'd got it due to cog failures, this may have been just getting over old issues with the box because since then it's never failed but I had it done once just because the engine was out anyway and it was feeling a little bit stiffer to change - this has never reoccured since. Put another way, if I hadn't been fitting a new box I wouldn't have had any plans for rebuilding this one. I'm not 100% sure on the ratios, the current quaife spec for their G60 with a 1:1 5th is as follows - 1st :2.682 2nd 2.000 3rd 1.550 4th 1.244 5th 1.000 6th 0.863, I would guess the older ones are the same, I can have a very rough twist test on it if you want to see if 1st gives a bit over 2.5 turns input to one turn output. No problem with the questions, happy to answer. Max, I'll PM my number over to you but I have just had a PM with an offer so I think it may be sold already, I'll post back up asap. Thanks for the interest!
